Do you ever wonder if you have what it takes? Ever wonder if you are in the right role?
I’ll get straight to the point: if God put you there, then the answer is yes.
Even if you’re bad at it.
Take Paul, the apostle and church planter, who was admittedly was terrible at preaching. Multiple times he asked for prayer for his gospel presentations. Doesn’t sound like swagger, does it?
So why did God have Paul in that role?
Some self-aware key statements in 1 Corinthians 1:27-30 give us the reason:
“God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise… the weak things to shame the strong…so that no one will boast before him…let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
It’s not about you or your ability. You are where you are to bring God glory. Doubt is ultimately a waste of time and a quick way for you to miss or mishandle opportunities to serve others.
Paul wasn’t a great preacher, so what? God still did the saving, and much more!
Time will tell how God will use you if you persevere. Guess what Paul was gifted and positioned to do but didn’t know it? Write letters from prison. His letters of encouragement and exhortation from prison still impact us directly today, clearly more than his spoken messages!
Earlier I stated that you have what it takes. That’s kind of a lie. You do, but not of your own flesh. You don’t have what it takes without God. No one does. That is God’s fail-safe for the glory to (rightfully) fall on Him in the end.
Don’t waste your valuable, God-given time doubting in yourself. It’s not even about you. Instead trust in the Lord, remaining in Him, and watch him use you!
